BOOKS
Design and Management of Computer Networks
Volume 1 - Switching Foundations
In the first volume - Switching Foundations - the characteristics of the distribution of information in the local area are illustrated, with the Token models and with free transmission, are compared to highlight the simplicity of the LAN-ethernet.
In all the chapters, the themes are accompanied by examples of configuration on Cisco machines and are illustrated in a general way.
The volume is a fundamental support for the preparation for the CCNA and SWITCH exams of the Cisco CCNP career.
Design and Management of Computer Networks
Volume 2 - Basic Routing
The second volume - Basic Routing - illustrates the distribution of packages in the World Wide Web. The routing process, without the central switching element, and the progressive routing of packets is taken as a direct consequence of the scalability of IP addressing.
Transformations from dotted decimal addresses to binary and hexadecimal addresses are reported in a simple and effective way to perform subnetting, access-list, nat and all other transformations of the control-plane and data-plane.
Subnetting, supernetting and wildcard masks are represented in a unitary way as a method of selecting any portion of the ip addressing to implement scalability at the global level.
Design and Management of Computer Networks
Volume 3 - Routing BGP
The third volume - ROUTING BGP - is completely dedicated to the BGP routing protocol and its configuration in Cisco machines.
The great importance of the protocol is linked to its influence in the construction of the Routing table with the contribution of all the routes constituting the internet.
The application scenarios of the Large User and Service Provider are examined to show the different Project Tasks in the two situations. The IBGP sessions and EBGP sessions are compared to find out the meaning of the default values assumed by the route attributes and the whole protocol in the two situations.
Design and Management of Computer Networks
Volume 4 - Handling Control-Plane and Data-Plane
The fourth volume - Handling Control-Plane and Data-Plane - is dedicated to address manipulations and routing tables carried out in the counter-plane and in the data-plane of Routers and multilayer switches.
This unitary framework therefore illustrates the Access-Control-List (ACL), the Modular-Quality-Framework (MQF), the Inspection, the nat-pat translations to create filters and manipulations of data packets and routing information.
The nat-pat filters are correlated with the validity domains of the IP addresses (public and private) with particular regard to the security implications.
